June 3rd 2009:
Again in the second round there was Hardcore and Hardstyle to be heard! Luckily Roy was on time and fully prepared, so that the everything could start as planned.
There were 6 DJ's (4 Hardcore, 2 Hardstyle) and the jury was composed out of 3 people.
They judged on Mix Quality, Variation, Originality, Choice of records, composition of the songs and the general vibe they let off whilst doing their thing.
There was alot of talk amongst the listening crowd which generated a new report to which the jury carefully listened.
Time Table:
19:00 - 19:30 : Stereox
19:30 - 20:00 : Nido
20:00 - 20:30 : Sound Supllier
20:30 - 21:00 : Kid Suicide
21:00 - 21:30 : Milito
21:30 - 22:00 : Wisdom
DJ's Stereox and Nido started off with Hardstyle, followed by Sound Supplier and Kid Suicide. Then came Milito also with Hardcore and finally Wisdom with some Frenchcore.
Sadly Frenchcore did not fit into our format, but nevertheless we judged him anyway.
The switching between DJ's went almost perfect and was well organised by both the DJ's and their respective crews.
The DJ's in general were good, some were better with their mixing, some had more interaction with the crowd/their crew. One had a few more beatmatch mistakes, but interacted better with the public/his crew, and yet another worked through his set very well but had little to no interaction with the crowd.
As I expected myself, there was indeed a DJ that pumped up the volume as he progressed, even up to the height where the limiter hit full, that's NEVER the way to go! Thankfully they had a limiter/compressor present or he could well have blown up the soundstage. Always watch your soundlevel and always try going towards the 0 DB (Often the green leds).
After a short discussion, the jury came to a decision. Kid Suicide was the winner of this round.
I thought the evening was a complete succes, everyone helped out and there was a good atmosphere.
Aft erwards there was a nice afterparty at which the entire evening was discussed and the winner was picked: Kid Suicide! I hope I can be a part of it again next time around! Pretty soon there will be pictures of the contest on the site.
